Das Team muss sich mit einem schriftlichen Geständnis von Tobey Hollins auseinandersetzen. Dies besagt, dass er einen Mord begangen habe. Allerdings sagen die Beweise Horatio etwas anderes, so dass er sich bemüht, Hollins' Unschuld zu beweisen, während Hollins im Gefängnis aus Notwehr jemanden tötet. Die Zeit drängt immer mehr, Hollins wieder auf freien Fuss setzen zu können.
