Actress Jessica Alba, along with the director and producers of a new film about gang violence in America, will be on Capitol Hill on May 6th for a film screening and question and answer session. Aside from the usual questions of "are you single?" and "do you have any democrat in you?" (you know the rest), the L.A. cadre are hoping to field questions and insights about gangs in the U.S.
“Crips and Bloods: Made in America” tells the story of Los Angeles’ two most infamous African American gangs and includes the street-level testimony of contemporary and former gang members. According to the film’s website, it offers “a message of hope and a cautionary tale of redemption aimed at saving the lives of a new generation of kids, not just in South LA but anywhere in the world that gang violence exists.”
The screening is hosted by Reps. Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Mike Castle (R-DE), neither of whom have a shot with Jessica Alba. Contact your representative’s office if you are interested in meeting Jessica – I mean of course, learning about gang violence in America and what you can do to help prevent it.
