Hier gibt es die ersten Infos zum neuen Resident Evil Streifen.
Resident Evil: Extinction to Start in 2006

Resident Evil: Extinction, the third installment in the popular game-to-film franchise, is set to begin production in 2006. Russell Mulcahy (The Shadow, Highlander) will direct with Milla Jovovich reprising her starring role.
It was previously believed that the third film, written by Paul W.S. Anderson, would be titled Resident Evil: Afterlife. Reports said the movie would be set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant zombies. The setting was the Nevada desert with the Aussie outback standing in for the American wasteland. In the final reel, the action would have shifted to Japan, setting up the fourth installment.
It's unclear now if Resident Evil: Extinction will follow that same storyline or whether or not a fourth film is still planned.
Sony's Screen Gems will again distribute the film in North America.

Drehstart für den Actionthriller unter der Regie von Russell Mulcahy ist für Ende April 2006 geplant
US-Studio Sony Pictures Entertainment / ScreenGems erwirbt Auswertungsrechte für Nordamerika
Die Constantin Film AG setzt die erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit mit Milla Jovovich fort und verpflichtet den Hollywoodstar erneut für die Hauptrolle in RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION. Die internationale Eigenproduktion ist die mit Spannung erwartete dritte Verfilmung der auf dem Bestseller-Videospiel von Capcom basierenden "Resident Evil" Reihe. Die beiden ersten Filme RESIDENT EVIL und RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE generierten bislang weltweit in den verschiedenen Auswertungsstufen einen Gesamtumsatz von mehr als US$ 600 Millionen. In der Fortsetzung des Kampfes der Hauptfigur Alice gegen die teuflische Umbrella Corp muss ein Virus entschlüsselt werden, der die gesamte Menschheit bedroht.
Unter der Regie von Russell Mulcahy, der seit dem Fantasy-Blockbuster HIGHLANDER als Spezialist für Action-Spektakel gilt, ist der Drehbeginn von RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION für Ende April 2006 geplant. Der Actionthriller wird von Constantin Film in Zusammenarbeit mit Davis Film produziert. Bernd Eichinger und Samuel Hadida zeichnen als Executive Producer verantwortlich; produziert wird der Film von Robert Kulzer, Jeremy Bolt und Paul Anderson, der Letztere schrieb auch das Drehbuch.
Die Auswertungsrechte für Nordamerika wurden wiederum vom US-Majorstudio Sony Pictures Entertainment/ScreenGems lizenziert. Damit wird die erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit mit dem US-Studio fortgesetzt, das bereits mit der Vermarktung der beiden ersten Teile der "Resident Evil" Verfilmungen allein an den nordamerikanischen Kinokassen knapp US$ 100 Millionen eingespielt hat.

Ashanti Joins Resident Evil: Extinction

The official website for singer-actress Ashanti has revealed that she will appear in the "trilogy finale" Resident Evil: Extinction. The site does not reveal which role she will play in the Screen Gems film.
She'll join returning stars Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Sienna Guillory, Mike Epps and Iain Glen in the movie, based on the popular video game franchise.
"Extinction" revolves around the continuing battle against the evil Umbrella by Alice (Jovovich) and her allies.
Russell Mulcahy is directed a script by Paul W.S. Anderson in Mexico.
Germany's Constantin Film and Impact Pictures are producing.

There is nothing harder to kill than something that is already dead: Fast 99 Prozent der Erdbevölkerung sind mittlerweile durch das todbringende Virus infiziert. Neben Milla Jovovich stehen in der Fortsetzung erneut Oded Fehr ("Die Mumie", "Die Mumie kehrt zurück"), Mike Epps ("The Fighting Temptations") sowie Iain Glen ("Königreich der Himmel") vor der Kamera. Für die Rolle der Claire konnte Ali Larter ("Final Destination", "Final Destination 2") besetzt werden. US R'n'B Star und Grammy® Gewinnerin Ashanti ("Coach Carter", "John Tucker Must Die") zeigt in der Rolle der Betty, dass sie neben der Musik auch als Schauspielerin überzeugt.

Ich bin ein großer Fan der Spielereihe, und deshlab finde ich die Story des dritten Teils (was man schon davon weiß) einfach nur grottig. Genau wie die der ersten beiden Filme. Die haben rein garnix mit der Story und der Atmosphäre der Spiele gemein.
Echt traurig auch, dass liebgewonnenen Charaktere aus den Games in den Filmen einfach planlos verwurstet werden...
An sich waren die ersten beiden Filme unterhaltende Actionfilme, aber als Resident Evil Umsetzung sind sie alle kläglich gescheitert. |

About a year-and-a-half ago, it was reported that Constantin Film and Impact Pictures had already started work on a fourth "Resident Evil" before the third installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, opening September 21, 2007, had even started shooting.
As the new synopsis for "Extinction" indicates, that is no longer the case. The plot summary for "Extinction" labels the film as "the third and final installment." |

Ich auch  hat absolut nix mehr mit den Spielen zu tun, wie die ersten eigentlich auch. Als Fan der Spielereihe muss ich sagen, dass ich sehr enttäuscht bin, dass die genialen Spiele mit solchen durchschnittlichen Filmen runtergemacht werden. |

Ich hab ihn gesehen und ich muss sagen, dass der besser ist als die beiden ersten Teile, allein dadurch, dass er nicht die ganze Zeit im Dunkeln spielt.
Auch das mit Vegas war alles sehr gut gemacht,... |

War ganz ok der Film. Hatte sie die Kräfte schon immer bzw. woher kommen die?
Der letzte Kampf war aber ein bissle mau, und für einen möglichen 4. Teil wurde
eine extrem große Tür offen gelassen.
