Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro will team in Things We Lost in the Fire for Paramount's DreamWorks Pictures, reports Variety. Danish helmer Susanne Bier (Open Hearts) is directing from a script by Allan Loeb.

The project tells the story of a woman (Berry) whose husband suddenly dies. She invites her husband's troubled best friend (Del Toro) to live with her family, and as the friend turns his life around, he helps the grief-stricken family confront their loss.

Sam Mendes is producing along with Sam Mercer. Pippa Harris is co-producing and screenwriter Loeb will take an executive producer credit
