Will Len Wiseman and Kate Beckinsale be back?
ComingSoon.net caught up with Feast of Love producer Tom Rosenberg on Tuesday and asked him whether Screen Gems is continuing the "Underworld" franchise, which has raked in about $207 million worldwide on fairly low budgets. Rosenberg told us that you can expect an announcement shortly about another installment in the franchise. He said that Len Wiseman, who directed his wife Kate Beckinsale in the first two films, will be producing the new movie. Asked if this could possibly reboot the franchise, Rosenberg added, "It could. It's a prequel. Some people think it could be rebooted. I don't know. I'm not there yet."
He would not say whether Beckinsale would appear in the prequel.

Just two days after we posted shooting dates for a third "Underworld" movie, Variety has published more details on the Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems prequel, to be titled Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans.
FX artist Patrick Tatopoulos, who developed the creatures for the first two films, is directing with Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra aboard to star. Underworld creator Len Wiseman will produce alongside Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Skip Williamson.
The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.
Danny McBride wrote the screenplay.
"For the first time we will experience the 'Underworld' universe through the eyes of the Lycans," Wiseman said. "Patrick has always played such an essential part in helping to create 'Underworld' from the start. ... So I feel it is both exciting and fitting that (he) now takes the helm."
Sony's Screen Gems will distribute the film in North America, with Sony and Lakeshore distributing worldwide.

Klingt fast wie das Buch "Blutfeind"! Indem aber auch Selen mit spielt (mini Rolle)!
Underworld ohne Selene ist wie das Bourne Ultimatum ohne Jason Bourne!
Sollte es die Verfilmung des Buches sein ist ja eigentlich durch Teil 1 und 2 schon die Geschichte des Prequels erzählt!
Trotzdem werd ich den Film schauen, weil es ein interessante Genre ist! |

Bislang war man sich nicht sicher, ob das kommende Prequel Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans auch ins Kino kommen wird oder vielleicht als erster Film der Reihe direkt auf DVD erscheinen wird. Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans handelt vom Ursprung der Blutfehde zwischen den aristokratischen Vampiren und ihren einstigen Sklaven, den Lykanern. Im finsteren Mittelalter steigt ein junger Lykaner namens Lucian (Michael Sheen) zum mächtigen Anführer auf und ermutigt die Werwölfe dazu sich gegen Viktor (Bill Nighy) aufzulehnen, dem grausamen Vampirherrscher, der sie versklavt hat. Lucian wird von seiner geheimen Liebe, Sonja (Rhona Mitra), im Kampf für die Freiheit der Lykaner gegen die Todeshändler unterstützt.

An den vierten Teil glaube ich aber nicht wirklich, zumindest nicht mit Kate Beckinsale.
