Warner Bros. Pictures is set to return to ancient Greece and make war epic 300, based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name. Variety says the film will be directed by Zach Snyder and produced by Hollywood Gang Productions and Atmosphere Pictures MM.
Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life) has been signed to star. Production will begin October 17 in Montreal.
The film tells the true story of 300 elite Spartan fighters who, led by King Leonidas (Butler), fought to the death against King Xerxes' massive Persian army during the battle of Thermopylae in 481-480 B.C. According to lore, their valor inspired all of Greece to rise up against the invading Persians, planting the seeds of democracy.
Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) and his writing partner, Kurt Johnstad, adapted the screenplay from Miller's graphic novel. Michael Gordon wrote a previous draft.
The studio said 300 will rely on hyper-real renderings similar to the stylized illustrations created by Miller for his book. |
Der Comic 300 soll in die Kinos kommen. Nach dem überragenden Erfolg von Sin City in den Vereinigten Staaten, schafft es der nächste Frank Miller Comic auf die Leinwand. Inszeniert wird das ganze von Zack Snyder, der schon bei dem Remake Dawn of the Dead zu überzeugen wusste. Snyder plant, ähnlich wie Rodriguez bei Sin City die Comicbilder lebendig werden zu lassen.
300 handelt von dreihundert spartanischen Kriegern, die versuchen Griechenland gegen die einfallenden Perser zu verteidigen.

Freu mich schon wenn er auf DVD rauskommt! Ins kino komm ich ja leider nit!  Ist ja glaub ich ab 18 oda?
Der Comic war ziemlich geil find ich! Also wird der Film sicher auch gut!  |

Also sowas wie ab 12 mit Eltern, oder eben ab 16...ist in jedem Land einfach unterschiedlich  |

Tja! Leider steht ja in dem Bericht, dass sich die amerikanische Einstufung in soweit vom Deutschen unterscheidet, dass dort fast alle Filme mit Eltern zugänglich sind.

Meist ist es aber so das es bei Gewaltfilmen meist FSK16 (Terminator 2) oder FSK18 (Sin City) bedeutet. Falls es aber erotisch wird kann es auch fix ein R geben (American Pie ... in D aber nur FSK12), für härtere Sachen auch ein NC-17. Das in Amerika jedoch die Eltern das letzte Wort haben (außer NC-17) ist wieder was anderes.

The Hollywood Reporter says that 300 will world premiere at the 57th Berlinale, kicking off on February 8:
This year's Berlinale lineup ranges from such independent productions as Ryan Eslinger's "When a Man Falls in the Forest" to Zack Snyder's epic "300," an adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book about the battle of Thermopylae between 300 Spartans and a Persian army numbering in the millions. Both films will have their world premieres in Berlin, with "300" unspooling out of competition. |

CHUD alerted us to this first and now Ain't It Cool News has an even bigger version of the test image of Rorschach in Watchmen that appears at the 1 minute and 52 second mark. |

Director Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's epic graphic novel 300 set a new March record with an estimated opening of $70 million from 3,103 locations. Starring Gerard Butler as King Leonidas who leads the Spartans against the massive Persian army, the movie surpassed previous March record holder Ice Age: The Meltdown, which collected $68 million its first weekend last year. Budgeted in the mid-$60 million range, the Warner Bros. release also marks the third-highest debut ever for an R-rated movie, trailing just The Matrix Reloaded ($91.8 million) and The Passion of The Christ ($83.8 million). It is now also the top opening of 2007 so far, beating Ghost Rider's $45.4 million from February.
Touchstone's Wild Hogs dropped a spot and just 29.4% in ticket sales for an impressive second weekend of $28 million. The comedy, starring Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy, has reached $77.4 million.
In third, Disney's family fantasy Bridge to Terabithia climbed a spot and added $6.9 million for a total of $67 million after four weeks.
Sony's Ghost Rider, with Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes, made $6.8 million in its fourth weekend and has earned $104.1 million domestically so far.
David Fincher's crime thriller Zodiac rounded out the top five with $6.77 million. The Paramount film has collected $23.7 million in two weeks.
Jim Carrey's The Number 23 and Eddie Murphy's Norbit took the sixth and seventh spots, earning $4.33 million and $4.31 million, respectively. The former is at $30.5 million after three weeks and the latter at $88.3 million after five weeks.
The only other movie opening in wide release was the Fox Faith drama The Ultimate Gift, which garnered $1.2 million from 797 theaters, good for 13th place.
In limited release, Bong Joon-ho's monster movie The Host took in $320,000 from 71 theaters, an average of $4,507, while Mira Nair's The Namesake earned $251,000 from six theaters, a strong average of $41,833. |

Ich auch, kanns kaum noch erwarten 
Hab den Trailer in deutsch am Sonntag im Kino gesehn und die Synchro für Müll bbefunden  muss mich dann wohl in unseren Kinos nach der Original Fassung umsehen. |

Der Film hat von der FSK übrigens eine 16er Freigabe bekommen! Hoffentlich läuft der dann auch uncut ....

Bei der FSK stehen exakt 116:00 Minuten. Die IMDb gibt 117 Minuten (ohne Sekunden) an. Da im Kino beides mit 24fps läuft würde dies für eine einminütige Kürzung sprechen.

Nur weil der Film ein R in den USA hat heißt das nicht automatisch ein FSK18 in
Deutschland. Achja, bei der FSK scheinen die Filme immer nur mit vollen Minuten
angegeben zu sein, somit würde ich mir um die Differenz keine Sorgen machen.

Naja ... ich hab mich jetzt bei meiner Meinung nicht an die Regelung in den USA gehalten, sondern hätte alleine von den Trailern auf "keine Jugendfreigabe" getippt: Alleine durch die Farbe fand ich den jetzt auf keinen Fall harmloser als z.b. Sin City.
