Ja Rule

He is the first of his kind. Originally, Ja Rule seemed to be just another MC. Some knew the potential, but few believed. Two platinum albums later, hip-hop anxiously anticipates any song Ja Rule pours his vocals on top of. He has carved his own niche in hip-hop, and can't be duplicated.
Ja Rule is so much more than a rapper. He is an all-around hip-hop artist. A talented songwriter, potential movie superstar, and musical sensation, Ja Rule has quickly become hip-hop's top contender. His third album Pain Is Love revisits the formula that transformed Ja from a skilled lyricist into a Songwriting genius.

"Sometimes when you get into your music, you wanna harmonize, because it goes better with the track. I do with the song calls for. My voice is another instrument over the track," Ja Rule offers. On "Livin' It Up," Ja Rule dedicates three verses to having a good time. With Case crooning on the chorus a la Stevie Wonder's "Do I Do," Ja rides up and down the Irv Gotti-produced track in true Murder Inc. fashion. "Livin' it up is a good night out on the town, having some fun, that's what it's about."

Keeping in line with the album's feel, "Always On Time" (feat. Ashanti) is a mid-tempo gem where Ja impresses the ladies. Ja Rule explains, "The music is just coming from my heart. This album is a lot more passionate. I dealt with life issues, straight up. It's much more personal." The song flows perfectly into the track that follows, "Down A** B**ch," a classic rap love song, featuring Charli Baltimore, that defends the idea that every thug needs a lady.

Mastering the collaboration, Ja duets alongside Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott for "X," only one of the album's highlights. Ja was "ecstatic" about recording the song, "Missy is a lot of fun to work with. She's a really sweet person." Pain Is Love also features the smash hit single with J-Lo "I'm Real (Murder Remix)."

Though Ja's signature rap-meets-rhythm sound is constant throughout, he hasn't abandoned the hardcore rhyme style that paved the way for his success. He sets off the musical murder with "Dial M for Murder," a track that shows Ja in his rawest form.

Lyrically, Ja Rule's hardcore realism breathes life into each track. His emotions run rampant, and his passion is evident. "I got it tattooed over my heart. Pain Is Love is about sacrifice. It's about all the pains and heartaches you'll go through," Ja says of his album title.

With pain as the overall theme, it's fitting that the album features 2Pac on "So Much Pain." Ja Rule remembers, "The song is a dedication to both Pac and Stretch. A lot of people make the comparison between Pac and I because they feel the passion of my music like they felt the passion in his."

Setting himself apart from other hip-hop artists, Ja's originality in the game has elevated rap music to new heights. "I stepped into my own lane, and I'm setting standards in how things are done. I think artists that are going to have to fall into it, that's just the way it goes."

With a promising film career ahead of him, Ja Rule realizes his contribution to hip-hop. As the father of two young children, a son and a daughter, Ja Rule is wasting no time. Though he has plans to do more than just rap, he will never fully abandon the creative process of making music.

"I think I'm gonna retire after two more albums. I think I'm gonna be the first Rapper to really retire. I don't want to stop making music because I love to make music. But I want to retire from the actual job of being an artist. I want to be able to star in movies and do soundtracks just because I love to do it!

Black Child

Black Child was born Ramel Gill in Brooklyn, NY. Around there years later he and his mother moved to Queens, NY where he grew up and learned the ways of life.
Although he had some jail time to do, he didn't let that stoop him from unleashing his true talent. During his bid, Black Child wrote lyric's, joined ciphers, and spit his unique style ready to infiltrate the music industry. The first few hours out of jail, Black Child contacted Ja Rule who gave him his opportunity to prove himself by spitting lyrics to the genius behind some of raps most notable acts "IRV GOTTI".
Born in Brooklyn raised in Queens, Black Child's street life's greatest secrets, was first heard on Ja Rule's "Holla Holla" remix featuring Caddillac Tah, Busta Rhymes, Jay Z, Memphis Bleek and Vita. His debut performance, amped-up with a hardcore deliverance, proved that Black Child could hold his own among some of the industries finest mc's.
Keeping up his apperance in the tough music business, Black Child popped up on "Venni, Vetti, Vecci" Ja Rules's first album. Through his strong metaphorical lyricist Black Child was able to successfully tour with Ja Rule, and affirming his position in 1999 , in the group "MURDERERS", teaming with Caddillac Tah, Vita, O1, and Ja Rule who first feature was on the "Funk Flex & Big Kap live at the Tunnel Pt. 1". With their no-holds-barred approach, all five rappers spit homicidal lyric's ingniting a gangster straight for the street album "Irv Gotti presents The Murderers", burning up the airwaves with their lead single "We don't Give a Fuck".
While being involved in the regional tour for the Murderers album, Black Child having a strong charismatic street credibility continued building his career on MURDER INC RECORDS. He has also been featured on Sticky Fingers album "Black Trash", "Black and White" soundtrack, and "Funk Flex live at the Tunnel Pt.2". With his rhymes that hit with a manic descriptive flow, Black Child lyrics is currently bubbling on the "Fast and Furious", and is currently recording his own album under MURDER INC RECORDS. You can say Black Child's album inspiring world of struggle, success and commitment will reflect on a masterpiece album dominated by one of a kind life experience, coming to a hood near you "Ghetto Gospels".

RONNIE BUMPS AKA - Bumpy the Kid Ronnie bumps Da Worst Nilla!!!

This lethal weapon of the rap industry is currently still in the cut, but steady on the rise. He’s been on the Murderers Promotional Tour, heard on the Murderers Album, the last two Funk Flex albums, and will soon be featured on various albums under the Murder Inc. label. Ronnie Bumps born Ronnie Lane was raised on 99th ave in Hollis queens NYC (much lve to 99th and the wood). Bumpy the kid has been raping since the age of six. He was influence by every one of his family member and things seen in the streets; But he didn’t let the streets decide his future. From doing home video with his uncle and killing house parties in queens, Bumpy decided that his future was in his talent. He uses rap to create a devastating style of spittin and formed the technique he uses to destroy all who challenge him. Making him one of the best New York has to offer and him the name, “Da Worst Nilla”. He got his start in the industry by going to the studio with his cousin Black Child. While in the studio bumpy was challenged by another rapper and completely destroyed him. That got him noticed by Chris Gotti and after spittin 16 bars, the table was set, a destiny was started, and Ronnie Bumps was born into the Murder Inc. family.

Young Merc

Young Merc birth name Jeffrey Crocker, from Queens, NY. As a youth he really didn’t spend time with his parents, rather he lived with his grandparents for eighteen years, only to see his parents once in awhile. Living with his grandparents wasn’t easy, he didn’t listen, and hung out with the wrong crowd.

He started rhyming when he was thirteen years old, but he didn’t rap hard. Instead he was going hard on the strip with his friends. His family was telling him to go to school or he’ll get nothing. So in return he had to get his own by hustling for about 3 _ years until ’99. Then he started to see his friends get locked up, so he had to stop grinding, cause his late grandpop last words where “ If you going to do something , do it now” and Young Merc promised he would.

Caddillac Tah, Young Merc cousin, was signed to Murder Inc., but he didn’t want to be introduced like this is my cousin he spit, he wanted to be heard. Irv Gotti heard Young Merc on the “1 Herse 2 Surbans” joint with Black Child and Ronnie Bumps. Young Merc felt that Gotti was impressed, but he didn’t know it was Merc on the track. A week later Caddy was in the studio doing a song called “It’s Caddillac”, and Gotti wanted Merc to come to the studio. When Young Merc arrived to the studio Gotti wanted him to write eight bars to Caddy’s beat, he wanted to know if I was a fluke. “I wrote it, laid it , and he stamped it”. Ever since then he’s been here and proud to be a murderer. “I ain’t going anywhere”.

Lloyd

In the universe of R&B music, it's not enough to just be able to belt out a tune. The singer must be able to touch your heart or conjure angels when you close your eyes; whether performing on stage or crooning through a stereo speaker, the performer should make you feel a tingle of glorious sensations while you gently sway with the object of your affections. Indeed, in 2004, the singer who can invoke all of those emotions and more is 18-year-old soul sensation Lloyd. And, with the release of SouthSide , Lloyd has no problem taking you there.
“I feel there is a lot of corn ball activity in music right now and it's my goal to change that,” Lloyd says. “I want to bring a whole new energy to the R&B game.” As the latest performer to join the Inc. camp, home of multi-platinum artists Ja Rule and Ashanti, the Atlanta native has already joined forces with both of his label mates.
“The first song I recorded for Inc. was a duet with Ja called ‘Caught Up',” Lloyd recalls. “After that, we started knocking out the tracks real quick. We must have recorded four or five songs a week.” Also, Lloyd recorded several songs with Diva One Entertainment and Magic Johnson Music.
In addition to his vocal prowess, Lloyd also wrote all the tracks on the album. “Working in the studio with the Inc. team motivated me to create hot material,” he says. “Ja Rule would say, ‘You have to do you,' and that was a lesson that stayed with me.”
Citing Marvin Gaye, R.Kelly and Coldplay in his list of favorite artists, Lloyd's debut single, produced by Wirlie Morris, is an endearing duet with labelmate Ashanti. Over the sweet strumming of an acoustic guitar and a laid-back track, Lloyd's seductive vocals are powerful. ‘I want girls to be turned on when they hear my voice,” Lloyd says. In addition, the songs “Take It Low” and “Feels So Right” are straight R&B music for hopeless romantics.
With a voice that will have women fiending and men bangin' the songs in their rides, Lloyd was born in the city of New Orleans, but raised in Atlanta. “My father was tragically killed when I was two,” Lloyd says sadly. “He was a singer in the church and the projects, and everyone in the hood would come around to hear him sing.” Having inherited his pop's vocal chops, Lloyd recorded the sorrowful song “My Life” as a tribute to his fallen father. “I think about my dad all the time, and I wanted a track that would express just that.”
Although SouthSide is Lloyd's first record, this young man is a veteran of the music world. Discovered by former Klymaxx member Joyce Irby, who also was the first to introduce super producer Dallas Austin to the world and heads Diva One Entertainment, Lloyd was once a member of a now defunct group called N-Toon. “When I was 10-years-old, Joyce was putting together a boy band, and had spoken to the music director at my elementary school,” Lloyd says. “After hearing me sing, Joyce signed me right away.”
Although N-Toon was signed to both Warner Brothers, by Denise Brown, and Dreamworks, the project never took off. Still, being in the group was a vital learning experience for the young artist. “We were on the road constantly, which helped shape my skills as a performer,” Lloyd says. “A lot of people in the hood can sing, but not many can entertain. That's what I do.”
Signed by the Inc. CEO Irv Gotti after his first audition, Lloyd declares, “I walked into Irv's office which was filled with all these real hard New York dudes. All of them looked real serious, but when I played a song on my demo called ‘Hey Girl,' the fellas started nodding their heads. After Irv played the song a second time, he signed me on the spot.”
As the first R&B male on the Inc., young Lloyd is determined to make his mark on the industry with SouthSide . “Everyday is an adventure,” Lloyd says. “With me now down with the Inc., there is no limit to what we can do.”

IG Talks about Charli

If you're still wondering how Charli Baltimore is affiliated with the Game, you can stop. She's officially signed to the Black Wall Street, according to his camp. Baltimore spit at 50 Cent with Game on the recent record "Testify," and on a new track called "Bounce Back" — produced by Game's DJ, NJ Devil — the former Murder Inc. rider gets at her ex-boss Irv Gotti.

"Bitch! I don't f--- with kitten, that means pu---/ And I ain't trying to kick you when you down but you pushed me."

A very calm Irv Gotti said that even if Chuck disses him on wax, he has no bad feelings toward her.

"I have nothing but good things to say about Charli," Irv said from his Encino, California, home last week. "Even if she says crazy stuff, I understand. I hope she achieves the success she wants."

Irv said that Baltimore asked to leave the Inc. after her album kept getting pushed back, and he did not want to hold her back.

"Anybody I ever signed I feel is a star. Charli's no exception," he said. "I still feel to this day that Charli is a superstar. She's kind of what the game's missing as far as a female artist. She spits like no other. When I first heard her I said, 'She gets busy.' But what happens is that sometimes you have to find a record to make that star become the star. We tried. We was in the studio. We tried and tried and tried. We put out records and nothing stuck. I didn't want to give up on her. But she didn't want to wait no more. She's older. She's got her family and everything."

"I wish Charli the best of luck," he continued. "Game has a star. I hope he turns her into the star she's supposed to be. She's a rider, too. She's a good girl." ...

One very bad girl, self-professed video vixen Karrine Steffans had much to say about Irv and about a handful of his peers earlier this year in her salacious tell-all autobiography. She graphically described an alleged love affair with both Irv Gotti and Ja Rule, and said that Gotti even allowed her to have sex with Diddy when they were together. Irv laughs the whole thing off.

"Superhead is Superhead," he said referring to Steffans by her nickname. "She turned her lifestyle into a check. This is her hustle. This what she's doing. God bless her. More power to her. I don't have nothing bad to say. Do what you gotta do. All good." ...

Irv Gotti Talks about his Trial: I was Scared to Death

ENCINO, California — Fresh from being exonerated of money-laundering charges, where do you imagine Irving "Irv Gotti" Lorenzo would go? To visit his family in Hollis, Queens? Straight to work at his Manhattan recording studio, the Crackhouse? Maybe even out to Beverly Hills to get some sun and collect his thoughts?

Sure, you could picture any of those things, but that's not where he went. No, we found the hip-hop mogul in a quiet cul-de-sac in Encino, the town made famous by Brendan Fraser's "Encino Man" and where economy cars and minivans line quiet, unglamorous streets. But as the neighbors have come to find out during the five years since Irv and Ja Rule purchased their "Murder Inc. Pad," the serenity can easily turn hyphy.

It's a place where Bloods and Crips have partied in unity, stars like Tyrese have danced with girls so beautiful they make the contestants on "America's Next Top Model" look like scallywags, and it's the spot where Irv and two of his right hand men, B.J. and Dan Tan, are lounging before going back to NYC.

"The fruits of our labor," Irv said, referring to the home. "This is one of the things that we afforded ourselves to get. It's a nice peaceful home in L.A. where we get away when we want to get away. When we wanna party, we throw a party."

On December 2 — the day he was finally free and clear after being investigated for three years (see "Gotti Brothers Found Not Guilty Of Money Laundering") — Irv definitely partied. His friends rented a yacht and all his loved ones celebrated with Irv and his brother/co-defendant, Chris.

"I'm on cloud nine," Irv said with a grin as he sat next to his heated pool. Given the number of gray hairs now taking residence on his head, however, it's obvious the case got to him. Now that it's over, that stress has been replaced by "a feeling of surrealness," he said. "It's an overall happy feeling for a lot of reasons. It's a happy feeling that my mom and dad ain't gotta worry no more. Just watching them come to court and seeing my mom with the stress, I couldn't help her, I couldn't ease the pain until it was over.

"It's a happiness that the jurors saw through everything and did the right thing," he continued. "It's a happiness that after three years, the cloud the government put over my head is removed. And the sun is now shining. I got my life back and people don't have to be afraid to come near me. People don't have to say, 'Well, if I mess with him, is the government gonna bother me?' "

By raiding his offices and studio, calling into question his friendship to convicted drug dealer Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff and dirtying his name in the media, the government basically put his professional and personal life on halt, Gotti said. He's even been quoted as saying that he thinks the whole case came about because of his "Gotti" nickname and his label's former "Murder Inc." moniker.

"I love this country," he said. "I don't want to live nowhere else. All I'm gonna say is with me they had it wrong. They need to understand hip-hop more. Once they understand us, they would know. I'm nicknamed Irv Gotti, [but] it doesn't mean nothing. There's people nicknamed Noreaga, Fatal Hussein, it's just a nickname. It's not he's Saddam Hussein or wants to be Saddam Hussein. It's a nickname. [Gotti] is a nickname I didn't even give to myself. Hov gave me the nickname and it's stuck."

Gotti said all he wants to do is go back to making music. The last thing he wants is more beef with the government. "They investigated me, and I hope they see they got it wrong and I didn't do anything wrong," he said. "Let me go back to being a great earner. I'll pay my taxes, just leave me alone."

The trial of the Gottis was far from the drawn-out ordeal some had predicted. The trial began November 16 and ended just over two weeks later, with the defense resting after just two hours with only one witness on the stand, a former IRS agent (see "Gotti Defense Team Rests After Only Two Hours").

"We felt the government didn't prove the case and I didn't want to drag my friends ... my witnesses were gonna be a very extensive, a who's who in the business artistwise and executivewise, to explain who I was and where I got my money," Gotti explained. "I didn't want the government to dive into their past, like, 'Yeah, Irv's a good guy but do you know what you did back in '83?'. I didn't want them to have to go through that. I made a decision with my attorneys and my brother: 'They didn't prove their case, let's get it over with.' "

If only it were that easy. Gotti tells a tale of an agonizing wait for the jury to deliberate. Since he'd never been to court before, he thought he could go home and wait until the jury came to a verdict. He quickly found out that he had to wait in court during deliberations.

"You sit and you wait and you're scared like you wouldn't believe," he said. I.G. can laugh and joke about the situation now, but a couple of weeks ago he would cringe each time the jury sent a note to the judge. (" 'Somebody must be saying I'm guilty,' " he remembers telling his lawyer. "Each time a note comes out it's like, 'Oh God, no.' ")

"I was scared to death, but I also wanted it over," he added. "I was tired of waking up with the knots in my stomach and I was like, 'Whatever it is, let it be. If my destiny is to go to jail for 10, 20 years, I'm ready and let's do it. If my destiny is to get my life back, let's do that.' I was ready to face whatever I was gonna face."

And just like that, a little after 6 p.m. on December 2, the Gottis were free men.

"I'd never been in tune with God like how I've been in tune with God [lately]," Gotti said. "It's a clarity."

After the trial, the jurors requested to meet with Irv and his mother. One of the jurors even told him that she wasn't going to let anything happen to him.

There's still a long road to go for the Lorenzos. With the legal problems put aside, they have to get back on track with their record company (see "Ashanti Eager To Put Her Label's Legal Woes Behind Her"). The Collectables by Ashanti remix album and Ja Rule's Exodus greatest-hits LP both went virtually unnoticed in their first week of release, and their 2004 studio albums both failed to reach 1 million in sales.

Gotti blames the Inc's recent sales dip on sabotage from the higher ups at the Universal Music Group. Although he said he has no problems with Jay-Z or L.A. Reid at Def Jam (he still considers Jay a close friend and said his respect for Reid is immense), he and all the artists on his roster have defected from the label and are looking for a new distribution home. Irv said he's gotten calls from plenty of CEOs and he fully expects the Inc. (the "Murder" is still officially dropped from the label name, but Irv said he realizes people will always refer to it as Murder Inc.) to get back on its feet in 2006.

Obie Trice angeschossen

Seit letztem Freitag steht Azads neues Album 'Game Over' in den Plattenläden. Also los!
