Nun soll der vierte Film über den Kampf zwischen Mensch und Maschine in die Kinos kommen und Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd) darf sich daran beteiligen. Welche Rolle sie genau in Terminator Salvation übernimmt, wird bisher jedoch noch unter Verschluss gehalten. Die ersten Dreharbeiten haben bereits in New Mexico begonnen und die Veröffentlichung ist für Mai 2009 geplant.

Sure, the excitement surrounding The Dark Knight is at a fever pitch, but what about that OTHER big-budget, blockbuster franchise that's going to star Christian Bale?
The actor underneath Batman's cowl has just started filming Terminator Salvation for director McG, playing the adult John Connor in the post-apocalyptic world portended in the James Cameron-conceived movie series. ComingSoon.net squeezed a few nuggets from the star about why he chose to take on what's sure to be one of summer 2009's most anticipated films.
CS: What attracted you to another big franchise like "Terminator?"
Christian Bale: Well, initially, actually, that was NOT an attraction. I felt that I wasn't sure where it could go to. Before I gave an answer, I went back and reviewed the other movies. I felt like "Okay, unlike 'Batman Begins,' this would be something where we would be respecting the previous mythology." Certainly of one and two, not so much number three – but certainly you would be recognizing that mythology, unlike "Batman Begins" where we were saying that this is the beginning, right here. But what I view in it, and what has ultimately made me make the choice to make it, is that I see the same potential for reinvention and for breathing new life into the mythology. That's what I view our responsibility as filmmakers to be. It's pointless if we don't succeed in doing that.
CS: How is filming going?
Bale: Good, good. They're a number of weeks in. I'm just a week and a half in... It's going well. It's a tall order, it really is, and I recognize that and we have a lot of work to do, and I've just begun on it, because I only just finished working on "Public Enemies" a couple of weeks back.
Terminator Salvation is scheduled for a May 22, 2009 release.

One of the biggest questions swirling around TERMINATOR SALVATION (other than "Is McG up to the job?" and "Why McG?") has been: how are they going to deal with T-800 character Arnold portrayed in the first three films? Would he/it appear at all? If so, would he/it be a CGI Arnold, an actual cameo by Arnold himself, or...what?
Now we have that answer, thanks to an article published yesterday in the Clinton News Record. Seems the role has been recast & will be assumed by another Austrian bodybuilder named Roland Kickinger.
Kickinger has numerous credits under his belt (ranging from LETHAL WEAPON 4 to HOME IMPROVEMENT to...believe it or not..TEAM KNIGHT RIDER) and once trained with Schwarzenegger - even playing him in a recent A&E biopic.

This month, however, Kickinger begins filming what is likely the role of his life to date, as his portion of Terminator Salvation begins to take shape.
“There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy,” said Kickinger.
“It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about.”

We've heard off again/on again indications that Kickinger might/would assume Arnold's role for the last few weeks, but to the best of my knowledge this is the closest thing to an official confirmation we've received to date.

Remember those robots stomping human skulls in Terminator 2? They're, uh,
back. This is the first Terminator to to be set in Earth's not-so-pleasant future
(machines have declared war on humans) and the first without Schwarzenegger
(although a Governator cameo isn't an impossibility). This time, the heavy acting
will be done by Bale, who plays grown-up world-saver John Connor. ''Our idea is
to give the film the look of Children of Men but with the velocity of Transformers,''
says McG (Charlie's Angels). ''We aspire to do to Terminator what Nolan did with

First look at fourth Terminator movie
The Terminator is back, but it's not Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This time the plot centres on John Connor and a decommissioned terminator called Marcus Wright, whose last memory is of being on death row. The machine - that's Aussie actor Sam Worthington - befriends Connor in this fourth installment of the Terminator franchise. The Dark Knight's Christian Bale stars as Connor this time round with Bryce Dallas Howard taking on the role of Kate Connor.
Set in a post-apocalyptic 2018, the movie picks up the story of John Connor, who is now in his early thirties. He is waging war against Skynet and its army of terminators after it crushed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. As the machines prepare their final attack, Connor and Marcus go on a perilous journey that leads them to the core of Skynet's operations, where they unveil the deadly secret behind the extinction of mankind.
The movie's set for release in 2009 and is touted to kick off a new trilogy in the series. But there's been no confirmation of who will play the baddie terminator. It's rumoured to be Josh Brolin who recently starred as Vietnam veteran Llewelyn Moss in the Oscar-winning 'No Country For Old Men'.

Warner Bros just sent along this picture of Christian Bale as John Connor, about
to put a bullet in the head of a T-600 in Terminator: Salvation. It's from one of the
opening scenes of the movie, as Connor and a group of Resistance fighters attack
a Skynet communications facility and we get to see what kind of a badass Eddie

You will see that this is a movie inspired by the first films, but is a true
new beginning in that it takes place in the future.
All three Terminator films took place present day, with Terminators
traveling back in time to attack. This picture takes place after Judgment
Day. It happened. Everything is gone. The story of the movie is the "brink
moment" Reese always talked about.
From a technical perspective, we have set out to achieve a completely new
visual style that hasn't been seen before. We're shooting the film on color
stock but are using a method inspired by the Oz process which was developed
at Technicolor by Mike Zacharia and Bob Olson. Basically we are adding three
times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with
the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know
today.
Every morning and every night Christian and I work on the story. Sam's
contribution has been excellent. We are committed to putting the story and
character first and then supplementing that with action and visual effects.
It is our intention to make a film on a large scale with the nuance and
subtext of a high quality independent picture.
The richness of the story is really coming out now. It's a Prometheus tale
really, how creating life creates real responsibility - and if left
unchecked, can be our undoing.
The entire crew takes the making of this film very seriously. I made a point
of hiring key personnel that are passionate about getting this right.
Everyone is well versed in the mythology.
Comicon is this weekend. I look forward to sharing the film with the
passionate.

Schwarzenegger underwhelmed by early 'Terminator Salvation' footage
"I still don't know how it will play out with this one," said the star-turned-politician, who said he was given a private screening of early footage from "Terminator Salvation" by producers of the franchise reboot directed by McG. "They showed me some footage, but I don't have a feel for the movie. I didn't see enough. I wasn't sure who the Terminator was. I don't know if there is one or if he's the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how the strong the movie will be."

We're pretty sure we know the truth about those pesky Arnold Schwarzenegger rumors swirling around Terminator Salvation, and director McG all but confirmed this stirring speculation when we spoke with him at Comic Con. The film's producers have paid Schwarzenegger a staggering amount of money, even though he isn't physically appearing in the film. So why did he get all of that cash? Because, as our more than reliable source has informed us, McG will be CGIing the former actor/current California State Governor's likeness onto Austrian body builder Roland Kickinger's body.

Helena Bonham Carter, who just joined the cast of McG's upcoming Terminator Salvation, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that she plays a villainous character in the SF prequel.
"I kind of play a baddie, definitely a baddie," Bonham Carter said in an interview while promoting her new film, the comedy-drama Sixty Six. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm a very bad person."
Bonham Carter is a new addition to the cast of the film, which already includes Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd) replaced Tilda Swinton at the 11th hour and will work a total of about 10 days on the film, which is currently in production in New Mexico.
"Tim [Burton] would have killed me if I hadn't done it, because he's such a Terminator fan," Bonham Carter said, referring to her longtime partner and director on such films as Planet of the Apes. "I've been in big movies before, like Apes, and Fight Club was big in a different way, and Charlie [and the Chocolate Factory] and Sweeney Todd were big, but I've never been in this kind of big popcorn action movie, a male one, an action one." Terminator Salvation opens May 22, 2009.
