The latest effort to bring back Indiana Jones appears doomed, according to writer-director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption). Darabont told a movie website that focuses on films in development that although Steven Spielberg had praised his script for Indiana Jones 4 as "the best draft of anything since Raiders of the Lost Ark, " his excitement was not shared by fellow producer George Lucas. In the interview with Devin Faraci of CHUD.com, Darabont said Spielberg's praise "gave me a real sense of accomplishment, especially when you love the material you're working on as much as I love the Indiana Jones films. And then you have George Lucas read it and say, 'Yeah, I don't think so, I don't like it.' And then he resets it to zero." Asked whether he believes Indy 4 will ever be filmed, Darabont replied, "I don't think so. ... I just think it's fantastically bizarre that for a project that people have been trying to crack for ten years and have a writer come in and finally crack it and then ... Lucas and Spielberg have finalized the script
George Lucas said Friday that filming of the long-awaited Indiana Jones 4 will begin next year with Harrison Ford set to star again. Lucas said he and Steven Spielberg recently finalized the script for the film.
"It's going to be fantastic. It's going to be the best one yet," the 62-year-old filmmaker said during a break from preparing for his duties as grand marshal of Monday's Rose Parade.
Exact film locations have not been decided yet, but Lucas said part of the movie will be shot in Los Angeles. The fourth chapter of the "Indiana Jones" saga, which will hit theaters in May 2008, has been in development for over a decade with several screenwriters taking a crack at the script, but it only recently gained momentum.
Lucas kept mum about the plot, but said that the latest action flick will be a "character piece" that will include "very interesting mysteries." "I think it's going to be really cool," Lucas said.
At the inaugural Rome Film Festival in October, the 64-year-old Ford said he was excited to team up with Lucas and Spielberg again for the fourth "Indiana Jones" installment. Ford said he was "fit to continue" to play the title role despite his age. Ford played Indiana Jones in 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Ob der Film wirklich so toll wird wie Lucas schon jetzt behauptet bleibt abzuwarten. Aber der Hype wird sicher so groß sein das der Film zumindest kommerziell ein Erfolg werden wird.

Nun haben die Kollegen vom 'The Hollywood Reporter' weitere Details zum Projekt entlocken können. Demnach will man kommenden Juni mit den Dreharbeiten beginnen. Gedreht wird in verschiedenen Punkten der ganzen Welt einschließlich den USA. Obwohl er in viele andere Projekte einschließlich eines Biopics über "Abraham Lincoln" involviert ist, wird Indiana Jones IV definitiv der nächste Film von Steven Spielberg.
"George, Harrison und ich sind schon alle sehr aufgeregt. Wir denken, die Wartezeit auf das Drehbuch hat sich gelohnt. Wir hoffen dass das Skirpt alles liefert, was du von einer Indiana Jones Geschichte erwartest." So der Filmemacher.
'Lucasfilm Ltd.' übernehmen die Produktion des Films und 'Paramount Pictures' besitzt die weltweiten Verleihrechte. Frank Marshall ist als Produzent tätig, während George Lucas und Kathy Kennedy als ausführende Produzenten fungieren. David Koepp verfasste die letzte Fassung des Drehbuchs, welche den Segen von Spielberg und Lucas erhielt. Titel und Storyline des Films, werden noch unter Verschluss gehalten. Gestern gab ein Sprecher von Spielberg bekannt, das noch kein Casting begonnen hat man aber gerne Sean Connery verpflichten wolle, der bereits im 3. Teil den Vater von Indiana Jones dargestellt hat.

Die Dreharbeiten für das neue Abenteuer sollen im Sommer beginnen und nachdem der schottische Darsteller von George Lucas angesprochen worden ist, denkt er ernsthaft darüber nach die Rolle wiederaufzunehmen.
Auf die direkte Frage, ob er zurückkehren würde, hat er geantwortet: "Vielleicht. Im Moment ist noch nichts entschieden. Ich habe das Skript noch nicht bekommen. Alles hängt vom Drehbuch ab."
Wir dürfen gespannt sein! Harrison Ford wird als Dr. Jones auf jeden Fall wieder dabei sein und wird im Sommer von Regisseur Steven Spielberg wieder dirigiert.

Harrison Ford has threatened to quit the new Indiana Jones movie, unless he gets to use a real whip. The 64-year-old actor, who plays the daredevil archaeologist, was told the weapon would have to be computer generated because of new film safety rules. Harrison branded the rule "ridiculous" and said he would pull out of the film if he couldn't wield his whip.
A source said: "The idea was to take away the risk element the whip carries. Safety laws have changed since the last film and movie makers have to be much more careful. Now they use computer graphics for any dangerous stuff."
Harrison was 39-years-old when the first Indiana Jones movie, 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' was released in 1981. 'The Temple Of Doom' followed in 1983 and 'The Last Crusade' five years later. The trilogy made more than £600 million at the box office. The fourth movie is due for release next year.

Nur wenn die Peitsche digital ist. Aber ich denke mal ein oder zwei Milliönchen mehr und ihm ist egal ob die Peitsche echt ist oder nicht.

Ain't It Cool News is reporting a rumor that Disturbia and Transformers star Shia LaBeouf might play the role of Indiana Jones' son in the fourth installment:
The thing is, we know Spielberg loves La Beouf right now. DISTURBIA became a pet project for The Beard, and it evidently came out well. TRANSFORMERS is a big deal for the company, and a lot of the weight of that falls squarely on the shoulders of Shia. So as much as I pray that there's no Indy Jr., I’m starting to think that this may in fact be true.
The fourth film has been scheduled for a May 22, 2008 release.

Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in the fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" adventures. With David Koepp's screenplay shrouded in secrecy, it is unclear what character Blanchett will play.

Shooting will begin in June in Los Angeles and at undisclosed locations around the world. Paramount Pictures will release Indiana Jones 4 day-and-date around the world on May 22, 2008.

Indiana Jones 4 producer George Lucas talked to USA Today about the highly-anticipated film, to be directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett. Lucas told the newspaper that shooting begins in Los Angeles this June and then it's on to several top-secret global destinations. Lucas teased that one will include a waterfall.
Lucas said that Ford's age (64) won't be a problem. "He's not running in any of the movies. He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film — it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him. And he will get beat up, which is a tradition for us."
Lucas, who also is in pre-production on a "bare-bones, action-heavy" "Star Wars" live-action TV series, said there'll still be plenty of action in "Indy 4," the official title of which he hopes to keep under wraps until the first trailer hits theaters around Thanksgiving.
Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, Dr. Henry Jones, but Lucas said, "We're still trying."
It wasn't his idea to cast Blanchett as Ford's new leading lady, he added. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director," Lucas said of Spielberg. "I approved it because she seemed like a good idea. When I met her at the Academy Awards, I told her, 'Hey, you work for me now!'"

Ich hoffe sehr, dass Sean Connery auch noch unterschreibt. Das gradiose Zusammenspiel von Indy und seinem Vater machte schon den letzten Teil zum Besten und Amüsantesten der Trilogie. |

Although it's been rumored for weeks now, USA Today has confirmed that Disturbia star Shia LaBeouf will indeed star in Indiana Jones 4. He's joining Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and Ray Winstone in the cast.
The newspaper says LaBeouf has been the subject of speculation as an addition to the sequel's cast but was forbidden by director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas from revealing it until now.
"Up until about two weeks ago, it was little more than a rumor," he said. "Literally, when I was saying, 'I don't know anything,' I didn't know anything. It was an act of faith. I have not read a script. I don't think anybody has."
Spielberg said, "Shia has extraordinary range. I think of him as 'the young man for all seasons."
Will LaBeouf play Indy's son? "I can tell you I'm sort of the sidekick character, obviously," he said. "I'm sure there are a lot of laughs at my expense, and some kind of creature crawling on me."
LaBeouf added, "It's not going to be Short Round, all grown up," a reference to the fast-talking little kid from 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
The fourth installment starts shooting this summer for a May 22, 2008 release. LaBeouf provides his voice for Sony's Surf's Up on June 8 and next appears in Michael Bay's Transformers on July 4. |

Das ist aber wirklich schade. Ich hätte mich über ein erneutes Zusammenspiel zwischen Ford und Connery sehr gefreut. Die beiden haben als Vater-Sohn-Duo irgendwie perfekt "harmoniert".
Tja, und jetzt einer neuer Schaupieler als "Henry Jones"?. Ich meine, Ersatzspieler haben es immer verflucht schwer, den Fans in einer bekannten Rolle zu gefallen. Das bedarf meist einer starken Umgewöhnung. Hoffentlich wird sich John Hurt oder wer auch immer als gute Wahl herausstellen.  |

Findest du das wirklich?! Ich meine, erstmal ist Sean Connery eine der charismatischsten Leinwand-Koryphäe überhaupt. Und deshalb war er schonmal von der Besetzung her ideal, da er Harrison Ford als Person/Star ebenbürtig sein musste. Aber was meinst du mit "nervig". Die Rolle von Indys Vater war doch wohl so angelegt und Connery hat sie, meiner Meinung nach, auch perfekt gespielt. Was gab es nicht da für herrliche Szenen: die kaputte gefälschte Antikvase, die Befreiungsaktion im Kaminzimmer auf Schloss Brunwald, "Die schießen auf uns!" - "Das passiert mir andauernt.", die Vater-Sohn-Aussprache im Zeppelin, der Luftkampf ("...sie haben uns getroffen!"), das Aufscheuchen der Möven am Strand, usw. Und am aller Besten überhaupt: Die Abgrundszene, wo alle nach unten Blicken und dem toten Indy nachtrauern. 
Also ich muss sagen, "Der letzte Kreuzzug" war bisher ganz klar der beste Indiana-Jones-Film. Und das lag ungemein an dem unschlagbaren Humor dieser genialen Vater-Sohn-Geschichte, an der Connery ja maßgeblich beteiligt war.  |

Das ist wirklich ein denkwürdiger Augenblick! Tja, sichtlich gealtert ist unser Indy leider nunmal. Aber was wäre "Indiana Jones" ohne Harrison Ford. Lieber ein älterer Ford als ein völlig neues Ersatzmodell. |
